HP Sizer for Server Virtualization by Hewlett-Packard is a capacity planning and configuration tool designed to help architects and IT planners build right-sized HP infrastructures for virtualized environments. By profiling workloads and consolidation goals, it generates data-driven recommendations for HP ProLiant servers (rack, tower, and blade) along with appropriate storage and networking to support platforms such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V. Users can model what-if scenarios, apply availability and growth requirements, and produce bill-of-materials and summary reports to guide procurement and deployment. The tool streamlines consolidation planning, reduces the risk of over- or under-provisioning, and speeds solution design with consistent, defensible sizing guidance.

Key capabilities include:

  • Workload-based sizing using CPU, memory, storage capacity/IOPS, and network inputs
  • Scenario modeling with consolidation ratios, headroom, high availability, and growth factors
  • Recommended configurations for HP ProLiant servers, blades, and compatible storage options
  • Output of component lists and summary reports suitable for proposals and reviews
  • Alignment with best practices for common x86 virtualization platforms
